I did a search but was unable to come up with anything. Does pfsense support the 5.4ghz for either client or ap, if the hardware supports it? (like the Atheros AR5213) I don't see the 5.4ghz channels listed under the a channels in the interface, so i'm not sure.

It will if you have a region setting on the card that allows it.
