QNAP to add pfSense to its products
-
Would that be a commercial edition as a purchased add on;
or are QNAP partnering in pfsense? -

@https://www.netgate.com/blog/qnap-to-add-pfsense-to-its-products.html:
We expect pfSense software to be commercially available in the Virtualization Station by early second quarter, 2018.
Reading and understanding a text without help is completely overrated these days, isn't it?

Thanks for your detailed response, now no-one needs to make any incorrect assumptions.

This is the beginning of the end of the pfSense. The changed licensing model has already shown that pfSense's commercial interests predominate. Now pfSense steers more and more to where you can also smell the gold.

Sometimes it's hard to sit silent to such "smart" statements.
I fail to see how partnering with QNAP to offer pfSense on their appliances is beginning of the end but maybe you know better. According to you, expanding market is beginning of the end.
pfSense always had commercial interests, how is that bad? It's what keeps the development going. Licensing model? License changed to Apache 2.0, a well known and established open source license.

I'm afraid to ask what you meant by this. I'm not sure I want to know either. On a serious note, if you don't have anything nice to say then it's probably better to keep it to yourself. This forum doesn't exist so you can vent.

May I respectfully ask my original question again without the attempted ridicule;
What format is the commercial proposal?
Is pfSense going to be a product for purchase? Or does Qnap provide it as an added feature to their hardware?
Personally I have no issue with paying, as this generally assists the longevity of the product. -
Work is still in progress so I can't say for now as it might change. More info soon!
