Export OpenVPN server?
-
Hi,
I was wondering if its possible to export the OpenVPN server certificate and import it to another pfSense box? The idea is that im going to virtualize pfSense currently running it on hardware. i have around 60 VPN, currently from 2.2.4 and going to upgrade to 2.3.5 or 2.4.x. I recently tried on a test box but no luck. Any ideas?Thank you

You may backup the whole configuration and then import it into the virtualized pfSense. The backup will also include all the certs.

Thanks for the reply, when you say backup the whole configuration as well as the packages? The idea is to do a clean install but only backing up the OpenVPN certs with the users
Thank you

The package information can be excluded from the backup. But you have to backup and restore the whole configuration to also have the users and certs on the new installation.
Otherwise you may export each CA, CRL and all certs you need from cert manager and reimport them on the new installation.
The OpenVPN servers TLS keys are included in the OpenVPN backup. -
Thanks for the reply. i saw for the backup i could download the openvpn stuff and the system which should be suffice for the restore?
