pfsense DHCP not passing IP to Dlink Access point

Connected Dlink access point to same switch as psfense, gave the access point a static IP on the same subnet as pfsense, disabled DCHP on access point, enabled DHCP on pfsense. clients connected to pfsense fine, wifi clients connect and are assigned IPs, but no internet, checked access point wifi status and all wifi clients MAC shows but no IP assigned by pfsense....????? strange issue, any thoughts.

@dmack Is there a vlan setup n are you using managed switch ?

no vlan setup, switch is not managed, also PCs on the LAN with wifi cards are able to connect and their IPs show up...pfsense is also gateway and DNS

For testing
Set your Dlink access point to obtain Ip rather assigning... Is it obtaining Ip from pfsense.

Can clients ping pfsense IP? ie their gateway - can they resolve anything? ie if they ping www.google.com do you get back an address.

Did you mess with the outbound nat? What networks are you using on pfsense lan, and is your pfsense wan getting a public IP or rfc1918? If you have overlapping rfc1918 address on both wan and lan, then no internet not going to work for lan devices.

Is pfsense getting to the internet?

Missing a small but important detail : what port do you use on the back of the router ?

Getting an IP is important.
But the DHCP client on your device asked for much more then that. pfSense gives your device (Smapthone, pad, PC) more then just an IP.

So, as usual, here we go (presuming a Windows device - but any device gives this information ) :
Run

ipconfig /all

and show us what your wifi device obtained.

Btw : If you connect by wire on the back of you D-Links, do you have a connection to the net ?

The IP, ok, and the mask ?
There should be a DNS : Typically the IP of pfSense .
There should be a gateway : Typically IP of pfSense.
