How can i block Facebook but access Workplace by Facebook?
-
I'm new to PFBlocker, I'm blocking facebook by Blackwilst, since Workplace is powered by Facebook that is being blocked too. Is there a workaround here?
-
There’s no easy workaround, you’re using facebook...
So the question is: why are you blocking Facebook, and how big a problem is it if you don’t block it any more? Answering those might point you in the right direction as to some options.

@motific I appreciate you taking the time on replying. :)
I work for a school, and staff are not allowed to use regular Facebook, Workplace by Facebook was a thing for them way before I was employed. So it was a norm now... but it seems like Workplace wont work as long as Facebook is blocked via TLD.

@sethelyon yup - there may be some domains that are specific to Facebook that you can block (or monitor) but I couldn’t say what they are.

@motific I was trying to get the domains from the generated Report and try whitelisting them but to no avail.
work.facebook.com was whitelisted, but facebook.com in TLD is blocklisted. Maybe I'm doing something wrong here or I guess Workplace and Facebook coexist. -
When TLD is enabled it will wildcard block all root domains. So to overcome that, you can add "facebook.com" to the TLD Exclusion, and then add all the individual subdomaisns that you want to block either via a feed or to a manual custom list.
Follow those changes with a Force reload DNSBL.

@bbcan177 Hii boss! Pleasure to meet the man behind PFblocker! Thank you for your hard work up until now. I have multiple questions but this will do and
will try this method tomorrow. I'll keep everyone posted the soonest. Thanks again! -
@bbcan177 Hi! I've tried doing this method but I'm still getting blocked on WorkPlace by Facebook. Too many sub domains to try and test by force reloading DNSBL. (I'm blocking them via Manual Custom List as I cant figure out via feed)
Is it probably I'm blocking the wrong subdomains or that's just how Workplace and Facebook works as they correlate?
Thanks!
