    Hi,

I am using the Squid reverse proxy on my pfSense box to redirect traffic (based on URL) to one of two servers. To conserve energy, I would like to implement WOL on one of these servers. My question is: can the Squid reverse proxy be set to send a magic packet to a server when it receives traffic for this server (and thus wakeup the server)?

    regards, Boris

WOL magic packet is a broadcast packet. As far as I know there are no ways to broadcast to passthrough different IP-networks. And Pfsense has nothing to do with it.
You can definitely use WOL from inside your local network. So, preliminarily, you need any VPN connection to any device/pc/server inside and send a WOL from it.
