Squid + squidguard + wpad + port 80

I have squidguard currently running on one of my VLANs.  I am reading up on wpad but i dont understand why I'm blocking port 80.  could someone please explain?  thanks!

You typically block ports 80/443 so that your users are forced to use the proxy.  If your proxy is optional, then you don't need to bother blocking 80/443.
