make pfsense box a 10GbE switch
-
I mean I can imagine why using Pfsense as a switch ist stupid, but can someone give a little more insight as to why exactly? Apart from the throughput part, which is obviously gonna be nowhere near 10G I guess. Maybe someone can learn something here after all >.>

It is opinion. But educated opinion. And worth its weight in highly educated and experienced I.T. techs even if not everyone wants to hear it.
In my opinion there is at least a couple of reasons to do what the OP is looking to do and that is for lab testing/educational reasons. Or a quick set up while you wait for the "real" switch that you back ordered is being shipped such as I did here at this building.
I went the Vyos route myself (linked above) and used it successfully just over a week. But only because I needed multiple SPF ports and needed it live quickly.

You have senior community members telling you not to do something; there is probably a reason for it.
What you are planning will add a level of complexity to the network, and won't work as you design it.

didn't ask for your opinion, I asked how to do it.
This just shows complete lack of understanding of what a public forum even is if you ask me.. Such posts make me miss the smite option ;)
I for sure don't give two shits to help him on any future questions that is for damn sure.. Bridging router interfaces doesn't = switch by any stretch of the imagination at all. Just plain BORKED...
the amount of conclusion jumping, arrogant, high-nosed BS displayed by admins/mods/employees isn't boding well for PR.
NO WHERE did I say that I /didn't/ know it may very well suck.
Instead of posting something like:"oh hey, do to that you'll need to bridge, link here... btw, it isn't recommended, pfsense sucks at switching"
no no no, you self-righteous p***ks simply post "NO" "don't do it"
acting like God himself, with-holding info despite being /respectfully/ asked for it
and for what? you come across that rude, you can't possibly convince that you are with-holding the info because you 'care about my hardware / pfsense experience'
my pfsense experience starts / started here. And if the forum 'owner' had 2-cents worth of decency, he'd fire the lot of you, you come across that pathetically up yourselves, it truly is mind boggling. -
I've reported three of you, despite your roles here on the forum
pull your heads out of your rear-ends

Well some people wear their "Idiot" badge with pride and tiro_uspsss seems to be among them, not much anyone can do about it.

Taken care of.

Oh I see he was put on a time out ;) I would of made it longer.. Maybe he can go demand info on how to do something that makes no sense on facebook or reddit.. But with such a demanding attitude he won't get much help over there either..
