Settings to utilize AES-NI

There seems to be a lot of conflicting/outdated information on how to get OpenVPN to use AES-NI.

Can someone clear up how pfSense should be configured to fully take advantage of AES-NI?

So far I've seen people suggest:

• Don't turn any acceleration on, it will use it anyway
• Only select one of the acceleration options
• Enable all options and select acceleration under the OpenVPN settings
