Hello I implement an openVPN solution with pfsense but I can not connect:
here is my IT infrastructure. LAN -----> Pfsense -----> WAN ------> TUNEL ---> Customers
LAN: 192.168.0.0/24
Pfsense: 192.168.0.254/24
WAN: 192.168.8.1/24
TUN: 10.101.10.0when i log out of my local network here is the message that the openvpn GUI console is referring me
I really need help -
Seems the client cannot reach the server.
The client tries to connect to a private address (192.168.8.140)? You wrote you go over WAN.
-
@viragomann Ok Sorry!!
192.168.8.1 is the default gateway address of the router and 192.168.8.140 is the WAN interface address -
The client tries to connect to 192.168.8.140:1194, but that IP:port is not responding or isn't reachable.
The client is within the WAN: 192.168.8.0/24 network?
-
@viragomann No the client is out of the 192.168.0.0/24 network and out of the 192.168.8.0 network
-
But as the log above shows, the client tries to connect to 192.168.8.140. How should that work if he isn't within that network???
You have to change your client config remote line to the public IP or FQDN.
-
@viragomann Indeed I wanted to set up a remote desktop so log in from my home to my server at the office via my vpn
-
@viragomann but when I connect the client in the network 192.168.0.0 it connects without problem
-
Both networks 192.168.0.0/24 andd 192.168.8.0/24 are connected to the same router. So you go across the router.
Man when you’re outside that network you have to use the public IP to access the network.
