WAN rules
-
Sorry if this has been answered elsewhere but I couldn't seem to find what I was looking for.
By default the WAN interface has no rules, stating all incoming connections will be blocked unless rules are added. Knowing this, I assumed trying to connect to a PC on the network from another location would not go through, however it does. Perhaps I have a misunderstanding of how a teamviewer connection works. Can anyone clarify why a connection coming into the network from teamviewer works while there are no WAN rules that would allow it? -
The Teamviewer client on the LAN on your pfsense box initiates a connection to Teamviewer servers thus already having an open connection to the outside world. Your going in via their servers.

okay that makes sense. Thanks!
