PPPoE doesn't self recover

PPPoE doesn't self recover if connection breaks it requires a reboot of modem or Pfsense . hitting connect on Interfaces page no longer recovers connection

I'm running 2.5.0 on my home edge firewall, and one of my WANs is PPPoE. My telco is pretty crappy, so it fails a lot, but always recovers on its own. Same with test VMs I have here that have their PPPoE "server" rebooted when I update things in the lab.

There must be something specific to your environment contributing here, so you'll have to provide a lot more detail, logs, etc.

@jimp I am wondering if this could be an anctiontec T3200 bug as neighbor had same issue but his actiontec is doing the PPPoE just cant fin any more info to troubleshoot besides firing up packet capture next time it goes down , and good luck getting windstream (isp) to fix anything !!

I have modem access setup on pfsense https://docs.netgate.com/pfsense/en/latest/interfaces/accessing-modem-from-inside-firewall.html

so that might be a difference ?

I tried rebooting pfsense and not the modem and justa reboot of pfsense doesn't fix issue still requires modem to be rebooted

so the problem is the modem not responding anymore,
i have pppoe myself on 2.5.0 without problem

Those errors/behaviors all appears to be a lack of upstream connectivity at play, so I'd definitely focus on the modem itself.
