torrenting speeds do not reach over 1mbps
Maybe I'm overlooking it, but per your screenshot... qBittorrent is downloading at 945 KB/sec, which is ~7.5 Mbit/sec. So, where are you seeing the 1 Mbit/sec cap?

@marvosa no ive just assumed 1MiB/s was about 1mbps and was probably wrong. how fast should Mib/s for 300mbps im guessing I still haven't reached over 8mbps? and the issue with slow bandwidth in general remains.

@calbha Well, if you maxed out your 300 Mbit/s connection you would see ~37 MB/s in your qBittorrent client. The problem is you don't have much control over how fast you can download. Unfortunately, your torrent download speeds are at the mercy of the aggregate upload speed of the connected peers.
However, there are some things that can be tweaked:
- Obviously, the more peers that are connected, the faster you download, so try to find a site with more users
- In qBittorent, go to Tools -> Options -> Connection and note the "Port used for incoming connections". In PFsense, forward this port to the PC that qBittorent is running on.
- In qBittorent, disable uTP by going to Tools -> Options -> Connection, in the "Enabled protocol" section, select TCP (instead of "TCP and uTP")
- In qBittorent, Tools -> Options -> Connection, increase all the maximum connection limit options under the "Connections Limits" section
- In qBittorent, Tools -> Options -> Connection, I would uncheck all rate limit options, but be sure to uncheck "Apply rate limit to uTP protocol" in particular and verify the global rate limits are what you're expecting.
- In qBittorent, Tools -> Options -> BitTorrent, increase all the options in the "Torrent Queueing" section

I do feel the 75mbps has something to do with though on a 300mbps connection with aes-ni processor. something else interesting worth mentioning is I successfully setup multiple vpn connections and gateways and got everything up and running and my overall bandwidth speeds decreased.

@marvosa changing to tcp did indeed fix the slow torrenting. for that I thank you very much. I am still sitting at 70mbps on a 300mbp connection.

you can keep pushing and tweaking till you get the full performance out of your bandwidth.
If you are downloading normal torrent files say ubuntu, linux files or free music torrents which are well seeded you should max out your 300Mbps connection or come close to it. Poorly seeded torrents won't so much get good speeds or reliability.
Obviously you gotta get your speeds right there are differences even I forget between Mbps and Mbs etc, speedtest should tell you if you are hitting 300Mbps so on say utorrent it could say 35MB/s roughly, google to calculate correct values ie Mbps to MB/s calculator.
Setting TCP in my utorrent fixed most of my speed issues for me also, but you can always get more or more stable performance. However, newsgroups may provide a more stable and faster performance I am told.

@calbha What VPN do you use? I've also experienced it from time to time, especially while traveling. It seems to be ok now as I'm staying at one place during lockdown ahah. Maybe try to read some reviews about VPNs for Torrenting and simply switch it. (I've inserted the link with my fav website).
They're not vpnmentor yet but I like their approach and the way they test.
As far as I know, in most cases, it's simply the issue with the VPN
