On hunt for blocklists
-
The voluntary house arrest many of us are under due to the Coronavirus has me climbing the walls. I've even rearranged my sock drawer - no kidding - separated the winter socks from the summer socks.
pfBlockerNG is next on my list. I've decided to go over my block lists. I'm on the original version. I tried both the new version and pihole but return to original pfBlockerNG. The reason - I can watch a few TV channels online without it detecting ad blockers. I have no idea how to repeat this feat in any other adblocking setup.
Supratim Sanyal's list page is my guide at this time. Edits out include firehol1 as it is reported to have some annoying false positives. So far I've only added a few IPlists.
I've googled up quite a few lists but not all sites generate a lot of confidence as to how usable they are. I remember that the new pfBlockerNG has several but I don't know where to find a list of the lists outside of the program.
Does anyone know of some good lists / sites that promote block lists? I haven't looked for a while and I haven't kept up on what people like to block nowadays as opposed to blocking of a few years ago when I installed the current lists (about 750,000 DNSBL and 100,000 ip sites).

I currently use the oisd blocklist:

I'm on the devel version and I was trying out the different blacklists for the past few months: default Adlists+malware lists, wally3k ticked lists, pihole default lists and settled on this one. It's a big list but after a few false positives where the list maintainer fixed very quickly, I have yet to encounter another false positive since. Even with TLD turned on, I don't encounter any false positives. I am comfortable enough to turn off logging to have pfBlockerNG null block the domains for increased performance especially on slower devices at home.
For whitelists, I use the anudeepnd whitelist, but the OISD list above already have all the whitelist domains removed so it's optional.
I had a look at Supratim Sanyal's list and I'm quite impressed especially the IP blocks. I only have level 1 enabled at this stage.

Thanks. I added the large list you mentioned and am giving it a tryout. It's an impressive work.

Thanks for this! Didn’t know about it and am trying it out now.
