          Ha, that's pessimistic! It's already partly supported if you're willing to do some work.

          [2.5.0-DEVELOPMENT][admin@apu.stevew.lan]/root: pciconf -lv athp0
          athp0@pci0:4:0:0:	class=0x028000 card=0x00000000 chip=0x003c168c rev=0x00 hdr=0x00
              vendor     = 'Qualcomm Atheros'
              device     = 'QCA986x/988x 802.11ac Wireless Network Adapter'
              class      = network

          No actual .ac mode there yet. Though I am a bit behind there, things may have moved forward since I last checked.

            Hi @stephenw10 ,

            Thanks for your answer, you're on the beta version.
            the drivers are recognized automatically or did you have to install the drivers manually?

              They are not included though the supporting components now are: https://redmine.pfsense.org/issues/9538

              You need to compile the module and copy it across to get it running in pfSense. see: https://forum.netgate.com/topic/142991/athp-driver
              Probably better to continue that thread than here.

              Steve

                @stephenw10,
                thank you, will compilation work on 2.4.4?

                  Nope. The driver is FreeBSD 12 only which means pfSense 2.5.
