pfBlockerNG vs pfBlockerNG-devel
-
Hi there - I'm not fully clear on the distinction between pfBlocker and pfBlockerNG-devel. Is the devel version eventually pushed to the main version over time? (What is typical lag if so?) Or are they distinct project lines? I tend to prefer 'stable' when it comes to router stuff, but what I'm reading online, tells me that most folks go for the devel version.
If I've missed an already posted FAQ or similar, I do apologize!
This is a fantastic project.
Thanks.

Like Windows 7 and 10.
The first is very usable and stable, the latter is in pure dev mode for years. Still, most of us use 10 these days.pfBlockerNG-develi s the one supported now, and contains the latest developments / functionalities.

if I'm not mistaken, @BBcan177 said, in another thread, that Pfblockerng is abandoned in favor of pfblockerng-devel and it will be removed sooner or later

If I remember correctly in another thread, @BBcan177 stated that pfBlockerNG-devel will become the official version with several new bells and whistles when pfSense 2.5 finally gets released.
It seems confusing to me that the other pfBlockerNG is still listed in the packages even tho it hasn't been updated in ages and is not preferred to use.
