      I have used Snort since It became a pkg. for pfSense back whenever that was and wondered if
      all those antique pattern matcher's were going to be removed like Barnyard 2 was.

      And Thank's to bmeeks for Inline mode.

        All of those pattern matcher choices are still listed in the Snort documentation as being supported. There is just a note saying a couple of them are superior to all the others.

          Still Supported doesn't mean they are used by anyone or even if they are effective (Does it)?

          I will just have to refuse the temptation to expand that section.

            I don't necessarily disagree, but nonetheless I am a little cautious when it comes to removing existing features still supported by the underlying binary.
