TNSR
-
Hi, I've been using pfSense for a very long time now both professionally & at home. I work for a SaaS producing company and most of our infrastructure is build from code. pfSense is the only part we haven't been able to successfully automate and as I don't want to move away from pfSense I'm looking to perhaps replace it with TNSR to leverage the CLI/REST api.
Basically we run a few internet facing PF instances and some other instances that make up the internal network. Lots of VLAN's, a bunch of IPSec tunnels (to clients who are running Sophos, Palo Alto, Cisco, ... ) , Snort/pfBlockerNG and we also extensively use the Lets Encrypt ACME & HAProxy package.
I haven't checked out the TNSR trial yet but it's unclear to me if TNSR also has the possibility to add these packages/functionality?
Thanks for any insight, and thanks for pfSense!

TNSR does not have functionality that goes beyond IPsec. Yes you can do VLANs, you can do NAT, Aliases, Filtering etc. and Layer3 stuff, but there are no further add-on "packages" or stuff. That's (currently?) not the scope of TNSR as a routing platform/appliance.
pfBlocker, Acme or HAproxy aren't available, Snort isn't available, too, but can be somewhat attached via another route that isn't really integrated as in pfSense on the same device.

Time to put a CAPTCHA on logins? I dislike those things but sometimes you do what you gotta do...
