Can my hotspot send Internet into my hypervisor machine?
-
I have no Internet at home.
My mobile has a hotspot which lets me use my home desktop.
How do I get Internet to my home Hypervisor machine?
I could connect a Unifi Nano into the Hypervisor machine's NIC.
I could connect a Wi-Fi NIC into the Hypervisor machine's MOBO. This would be easiest as this is what I have done with my home desktop.
Not sure if I could bridge my home Desktop to the Hypervisor machine's NIC?
pfSense is not allowing me to ping the hypervisor machine from the home desktop.

Hi,
This could be a solutionbut this whole mobile phone hotspot thing is a very weak solution....
(somewhat suitable for "setting up" a laptop internet (browsing, emails, etc.)-if you want to solve your VM WAN from a mobile hotspot, so this is already a concern, especially if you want to run pfSense on the VM
@eiger3970 "Not sure if I could bridge my home Desktop to the Hypervisor machine's NIC?"
I would buy a very cheap 5 port switch for this purpose.

I have a 24-port Switch for my home LAN.
I rarely need Internet at home, just a little on the home Desktop.
I need Internet on the hypervisor machine to download and install ZoneMinder. Usually no Internet at all.
I thought a proper setup would be a good habit.
I run pfSense as the virtualised router for the home LAN. Just having some trouble now after messing around with Wi-Fi WAN. Deciding what works best. -

Yup easy then, download it to your desktop and transfer it to your VM with a flash drive

@daddygo Not so easy. Most installs are walkthroughs to install onto the machine.
I haven't found an .iso file I can download to the home desktop and transfer over via scp to the hypervisor machine. -

Not so easy.
Then buy one of these devices for the VM...

Thanks. Yes, I already have a AORUS GC-WBAX200 PCIe Card.
The machine with the hypervisor Proxmox seems to have trouble installing this.
I think I've confused something between the hypervisor and the virtualised router pfSense. -
