Enter Management Password: - Windows 10
-
After building a new firewall, I decided to recreate my OpenVPN config. The client works fine on Linux, but in Windows 10, on the same computer, it does not. When I check the log, it shows a line "Enter Management Password;", but I'm never asked for it.
Any idea what the cause is and how to get around this?
tnx jk

Your trying to run openvpn client on windows 10? What version of the client, you trying to use the gui - run it as admin..

I used the client as created by the client config & export in pfsense. I've never had to run the Windows client as admin before and I don't have to run as root in Linux.
Unlike many others, I'm not in the bad habit of running as Admin in Windows, except when I have to. I have an admin account and a mere mortal account, which I had previously been able to connect with OpenVPN. Also, other apps that need admin rights pop up a box to ask for the password.

You use to have to run the gui as admin, but current create a service so you don't
Im running openvpn on win10, and do not have to run it as admin... I don't use the export install.. I always just install the client from openvpn directly and use the export tool for config..
I just don't have any reason to install openvpn on windows 10 to connect to my openvpn service I run on pfsense.
Can play around with it next week - Its about time to head out for sb party.. Covid Friendly - just going to my sons place (family only - total of 6 people).. Covid sucks!

I just downloaded the client, which I don't recall ever doing before. When I run it, it recommends TAP and says TUN is beta, which I am certain I've never seen before. Regarless, the exported client starts on boot up and connecting has not required a password before.
