i have a virtual nic on esxi(on the same port group as the main lan nic) i have created a OPT1 on that nic and run a proxy server on it. I can acess my server from my machines that are on my main lan interface. But the machines on OPT1 have no acess to internet or to the dns server on the main lan interface. what exactly is going wrong here ? i am only running a subnet because nat for proxy does not work if the proxy is on the same subnet

but not here , i can acess the proxy running on this from my machines on the above vm network group but the proxy running here cannot acess the things running across the network.

adding a pass rule from(opt1) to source/dest/port(any) in the firewall on the opt1 interface solved the problem.
