LLDP and VLANs
-
I have a Digium Switchvox phone system and Digium D42 through D62 series phones.
According to the company that originally installed, they use LLDP to configure their VLAN.
I don't understand how LLDP is used to configure which VLAN is used.
Somehow this is working on the currently installed and functioning setup, but I cannot replicate it in my test network.I have setup a test network from scratch that consists of the following:
- PFsense router
- Aruba 2930F switch
- VLAN 2 is PC network 10.1.0.0/20
- VLAN 3 is Phone network 10.1.16.0/20
I want the PC port on the phones to be VLAN 2 but the phones to communicate on VLAN 3.
I can manually configure this on each phone, but that becomes a nightmare quickly and will not be feasible when I send a replacement phone to someone and tell them how to install it.Any help is welcome.
I have backups of my all my test network configs and I am happy to try anything at this point. -
@cheezyadmin LLDP is a discovery protocol. My guess is their phones use LLDP to discover the voice VLAN. You will need to enable LLDP (and possibly LLDP-MED) on your switch.
