Having issues connecting pfsense openvpn client to openvpn AS

I have a openvpn AS instance that I am trying to connect use pfsense openvpn client to connect to. I started with the client.ovpn, and followed the instructions here to configure, but I never get past the status as "down (pending) followed to by reconnecting; ping-restart" . Now the complication is I already have another vpn client so looking at the logs, I can't really tell which vpn it is talking about, but in general I can't even tell it is trying to connect to this new vpn.
