Can an SG-1100 effectively run snort?
-
I have an SG-1100 with a small hone network, usually around 11 clients.
Can this hardware run snort effectively? Thank you.

@nguser6947 What is your Internet speed? I'd guess that's likely a factor. Per the product comparison a VPN (CPU activity) will slow it down a lot.
I have run Snort on an SG-2100 which is a similar CPU, on a DSL connection with about 50 Mbps download and no issues. We have a client with an older SG-2440 running Suricata that upgraded to 350 Mbps cable and it gets up to around 90-100% CPU usage at full download.

@steveits I'd have to check; it's the standard Comcast internet so certainly no more than 1GBS. I run a single work PC on the OPT port which communicates over a VPN but that's it as far as a VPN.

1GBS - snort - SG1100
You have to remove one of these 3.
