Has anyone had any luck getting the Atheros AR9280 PCI-Express AR5BHB92 to work with pfsense? I have not been able to find updated information on this card.

For reference I am using the same device as the protectli fw4a https://protectli.com/product/fw4a/

I am trying to use it in client mode specifically.

I am using a WLE200NX with the same chipset (AR9280) in a enclosure that resemble with yours without problems.

If it doesn't show in pciconf that's something very low level.

Does it show as a PCI device in the BIOS setup or POST screen?

Does the card work in something else?

You might try cold booting it. I have seen cards that were only initialised correctly by the BIOS at cold or warm boot. Be sure you have the most recent BIOS.

@stephenw10 I think you're right . I was worried it was a 'me' issue but hoping it was compatibility. This is my second NIC tested in the same slot. I did test from cold boot.

My next plan is to see if I can update the bios, if that fails I might have a dead slot on the board.

As Steve say: try that card in a other MoBo (if available). If you have an other mini PCIe-Card, that you know she is working, put her in and see if the system recognize it. So you can see if the slot has a problem. The BIOS is of course a possible culprit (I dont think so).

                My 2 cents,
