I was working on 20210612.0100 and upgraded to 2.6.0.a.20210614.0100.

Devices boots and all lan/vlans are assigned, but services but there is no ssh menu and no GUI. I tried rolling back the config.xml but didn't make any difference.

How can I reinstall the previous 20210612.0100 i need to get back running quickly. This could have all been avoided if a 2.5.1a was released to fix the broken dual wan

I'm not seeing that here, but it's possible it is specific to your setup/environment.

You can get installers for the last few snapshots from https://www.pfsense.org/snapshots/

This could have all been avoided if a 2.5.1a was released to fix the broken dual wan

There are also 2.5.2 snapshots which address that issue (and more) which are much more stable. They are now 2.5.2-RC snapshots.

          @jimp there wasn't any 2.5.2 when i went to 2.6.

          Can I install over 2.6 with 2.5.2?

I can ssh and downloaded all backups, but there is no cli menu or GUI.
No errors in upgrade log or any other logs.

What do I have to type to get back a working image pls

At the moment, you are lucky and the configuration format for 2.6.0 and 2.5.2 is the same revision.

If you download a 2.5.2-RC snapshot installer, boot from it and pick "Recover config.xml", then go through the rest of the installation, it will result in a 2.5.2 install with your current configuration file.

Alternately, install 2.5.2-RC and then restore a config.xml backup from off the firewall.

@jimp thanks Jim, the root cause was

              pfb_dnsbl.conf bzip2 truncated file error.

I have restored back to 2.5.2RC and this time turned the dashboard checking off ;-)

Won't be touching till actual release

Of course it would be great if the system also restored the packages that were previously installed but nonetheless survivable.

@jimp after re-installing with latest 2.5.2RC, the system information widget now shows /var seven times

Unlikely that it's specifically /var but various directories underneath since there are a lot more separate ZFS datasets now. It's part of the new ZFS layout. But we're working on the best subset of those to show by default in the widget for the next release.
