Oeps! Todays (7aug) update fails

Hello,
I was running a five 2.6 image about five days old earlier today, when I did decide to update.
The update failed, the router was not (correctly booting). The problem seems to be in /etc/inc/system.inc. The error is on line 1671 syntax error unexpected '}', expecting ';'
I had to to a fresh install based on an somewhat older image and a recent config file. I did use pfSense-CE-memstick-2.6.0-DEVELOPMENT-amd64-20210718-0100.img (arbitrary)
After reboot a second error occured "PHP Warning: file_put_contents(/var/dhcpd/var/db/dhcpd.leases): failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /etc/inc/config.lib.inc on line 260"

I can login to the console, but not the webgui. pfSense is not completely running. I tried a console update, but it failed.

Now that pfSense is running again, I checked my system logging and noticed following messages which are to some unkown extend not ok
