                Hello

                I'm new at PFSense universe.
Sorry about my doubts but I have the same problem.
To access the console I had to disable FW (pfctl -d).
                So I've created a rule:
                Protocol / Source / Port/ Destination/Port/Gateway/Queue/Schedule/Description/Actions
                IPv4            *         *       *     * *     * none
                I try to install Squid:

                Installing pfSense-pkg-squid…
                Updating pfSense-core repository catalogue...
                pfSense-core repository is up-to-date.

The following 4 package(s) will be affected (of 0 checked):

                squidclamav: 6.14 [pfSense]
                c-icap-modules: 0.4.3 [pfSense]

Number of packages to be installed: 4

                pkg: PRE-INSTALL script failed
                Failedrealized also that

I also realized that the VM stop responding PING and the conecction with de console falls.
I back to the shell, disable the firewall again, so I can access the console and PING the VM.

                What can I do??? :(

This did not work for me but I have another solution
I just renamed the squid directory
                    mv /var/squid /var/squidold

then installed  another copy of squid from the package manager and it WORK! for me.
Hope this helps someone out there.
