Installing kismet help and hidden ssids?

hello again,
first:i have found 1 post here where is mentioned kismet but i cannot find anything on installing i have tryed some freebsd forums and i seem to be getting close has anyone actually installed it successfully?
second:
i think i have some ssids i cannot seem get to show up on pfsense.

0x000000 00:40:96:47:a6:30 1 5M 6:0 100 Ewhen i ride my neighbor hood with netstumbler i find 7 access points called "turf" which i know is the school across the street but i cannot seem to get pfsense to show me all ssids? hopfully the kismet? gets answered then this wont matter.
i have a 500mw amp running on rg12 up to roof to antenna (aprox. 30ft high)

Afaik pfSense doesnt show all the availlable networks that are around.
–> It doesnt scan the channels.But when you select a channel on the interface-config-page all the SSID's on this channel should show up on the wireless-status-page.

What you're talking about (I think) is more suited to a product like DDWRT designed for war-driving etc where it will scan and auto-attach to wifi..
