Tried ZFS Mirror - Unable to Mount
-
I just tried installing the 2.4 beta 11/11/16 version. I chose the Auto ZFS option and created a 2 disk mirror. The installer completed fine but upon reboot the system was unable to mount zfs:/zroot/ROOT/default. I was unable to figure out what was causing the issue. After trying several times with ZFS in a mirror or single disk I would always get the same issue at reboot after install. I then setup with Auto UFS and the system is working. Any suggestions? Does something need to be manually set in order to allow boot to complete when using ZFS?

The actual error is:
Mounting from zfs:zroot/ROOT/default failed with error 2: unknown file system

They know about it.

That's a different issue. I tried ZFS again today and had the same problem. I opened a ticket here:

There's a workaround on the ticket, it's not hard to get it running if you land in that state.

Thank you for the workaround. I am up and running now.

FYI- This is working now on the latest snapshot. No special workaround needed, you can pick ZFS in the installer and it'll mount fine after the install finishes.

Does /boot/loader.conf persist after upgrades in these later versions of pfSense or do I need to make a /boot/load.conf.local file?
Thanks,

Custom changes always go in loader.conf.local. Never change loader.conf.
