A ping without any parameters on a Windows box will fire 3 shots.
On FreeBSD (an Linux) it will run until Ctrl-C. But, t"Ctrl-C won't be possible using a web interface.
Consider the "Diagnostics > Command Prompt" as a very limited option, use the SSH (+ option 8) access to be 'free'.

No "help me" PM's please. Use the forum.

Confirmed the behaviour.  You can recover by going to the console and using option 16 to restart PHP-FPM.

Next time, try Diagnostics - Ping.

That is baloney.  >:( PHP should not be configured to run forever with a few exceptions, such as the upgrade and package installation for example.  Fix this bug on the command prompt page!

PHP should eventually timeout when it hits the max execution time (~15 mins)

But that said, it's a classic case of "Doctor, it huts when I do this" / "Don't do that". Don't do that.
