Setting up captive portal - opt 1 issues

  • Hi all,

    I am trying to setup a captive portal but am having some trouble. I have been reading posts on this site trying to figure things out. I disabled the CP to see if I can connect directly.

    I have been using pfsense for 6 months now and am using v1.2 release.

    Here is how my network is setup

    on nic 1: lan -> pfsense (192.168.0.x/24)

    on nic 2: captive -> pfsense (192.168.1.x/24)

    on nic 3: pfsense -> wan -> cable modem

    On my laptop which I hook up to a switch that is plugged into the captive interface I can get a proper ip address from it in the correct range with the correct dns (the ip of the pfsense box as I have dns forwarding set). However I cannot get access to the internet. I cannot even ping an external ip (I used google's) from the laptop (dns doesn't seem to be resolving). If I plug the laptop into the LAN side it works fine. I can ping the laptop on the captive interface from the LAN but I cannot ping from the laptop to a spare computer on the LAN.

    I believe I may be missing a firewall rule or some may be improperly configured. Any ideas?
