DHCP working but not PING
-
i am using the pfsense over UNRAID. I am using the motherboard's ethernet port for UNRAID management and 4port PCIE card for pfsense, WAN & LAN.
eth0 = UNRAID management - 192.168.1.x
eth1 = WAN - public IP
eth2 = LAN1 - 192.168.1.1
eth3 = LAN2 - 192.168.2.1The idea was to use LAN1 as gateway for all the VM's or dockers. and LAN2 as gateway for external devices like the laptop and phone etc..
Also i was planning to use a external router, connect it to LAN2. But this is not working as expected.I had set the wifi router as DHCP forwarder and server as LAN2, and when i try to connect the laptop i used to get the IP but was not reachable to LAN2 using ping. This was tested over cable and not wireless. I decided to reset the router(TPlink with DD-WRT software) to factory default and configure from start. But that did not help.
Now i have connected the laptop directly to LAN2 and i get the IP again but i am not able to ping LAN2. I have set the rules for LAN2 on pfsense as exactly as LAN1 and yet there is not difference. When i connect laptop to LAN1 everything works fine.
Please suggest ideas to resolve this?

So pfsense does not see this eth0 interface? If it does you have a overlap.
So your trying to use a downstream router doing nat?? Or do you want this dd-wrt device to just be an AP?

Yes.. pfsense is not aware of eth0 interface .. I do have question there but i will hold off on that till i resolve the rest of issues..
I just want to make the second router - dd-wrt device the AP.. Basically use the WIFI functionality …

I did follow it. And also its not the first time.. But the issue is not with the Wifi router.. The issue is with laptop connected to LAN2 itself..
I have successfully brought up pfsense on PROXMOX with the same topology and configs and it worked ..
But when i try with UNRAID.. i am guessing i have missed some rule in pfsense or config.. since LAN1 works fine but LAN2 does not, as it give the iP but not reachable.. -
Not sure if this helps.. but when i ping from laptop to LAN2 the LAN2 is not responding. Also for the DNS query from laptop it is not responding. I mean i can see the packet capture in pfsense of LAN2

Well guess you got something wrong in the VM system of unraid then.. Prob have better support on their forums.. I would love to help you, but I have no way to duplicate your issue..

Thanks.. But i dont think the issue is with UNRAID atleast not yet because, everything is working fine when connected to eth2, when usingthe thrid and fourth port nothing works.. By default eth1 - WAN and eth2 - LAN1 works just fine.. so i am guessing some config is not set or the rules are not correct as expected..

you created rules on those interfaces to allow packets to flow ?

Yes..
Funny thing is now it started to work.. Not sure what made it work.. the difference between 30 min back and now is that I had enabled port 4(eth4 - LAN3) connected my laptop and added rules and nothing worked..
And then i connected WIFI router to eth2 (LAN1) and laptop to LAN2 and disabled LAN3.. Now laptop is reachable to outside world and the wifi router is also working which is test by checking the mobile and laptop..
