Pfblockerng 2.1.1_6 error message
-
Greetings,
I am running Pfsense version 2.3.2 with pfblockerng 2.1.1_4 and I started seeing the following errors:
There were error(s) loading the rules: /tmp/rules.debug:28: cannot load "/var/db/aliastables/pfB_Top_v6.txt": Invalid argument - The line in question reads [28]: table <pfB_Top_v6> persist file "/var/db/aliastables/pfB_Top_v6.txt"
I upgraded the pfblockerng package to 2.1.1_6, but I am still getting the same error.
Any ideas?
Thanks

Did you review the log file by going to the Firewall/pfBlockerNG/Log Browser tab?
Next run a Force Update and look at the logs.
Then run a Force Reload All and look at the logs. -
If a Reload doesn't fix it, you can try to redownload the MaxMind database:
php /usr/local/www/pfblockerng/pfblockerng.php dc

Thank you both for the quick reply.
I checked the pfblockerng logs, and there were no errors showing up there. The error was being displayed through the pfsense alerts feature.
I did force an update an reload and then ran the update for the maxmind database. Maxmind was running on a December 2016 version, but is now updated to 1/4/2017 version.
Will be monitoring throughout the day to see if the pfsense alert continues to showup.

I have the same problem today. I ran a Force Update in pfBlockerNG and rebooted the firewall, but that didn't help. None of my LAN PCs could connect to the internet after rebooting the firewall. As soon as I uninstalled pfBlockerNG, all the PCs immediately starting connecting again, so I'll just leave it uninstalled for now. This is the error in the Reload Filters output:
There were error(s) loading the rules: /tmp/rules.debug:24: cannot load "/var/db/aliastables/pfB_NAmerica_v4.txt": Invalid argument - The line in question reads [24]: table persist file "/var/db/aliastables/pfB_NAmerica_v4.txt"
I just installed pfBlockerNG a few weeks ago and it has been working fine until I noticed hundreds of alerts today. I was only using a blocklist for portscanners and a whitelist for North America.
