Squid Package Causes System to become Unresponsive
-
I have a fresh pfsense install that I upgraded to 2.3.3 . The only package I installed is Squid. Once it is installed, and before I can configure it, the system stops working. All interfaceS stop responding to request / all network connections go down. I am forced to a hard reboot (disconnect power). The system stays up for a while but goes down after a few minutes with no traffic.
I have reset to factory default and installed squid again. The only thing that stops the system from becoming unresponsive is to remove Squid. I never get a chance to touch the squid configuration.
I have 8g of RAM.
Is there some sort of preparation I should do before installing squid? -
No, there is no preparation and you very likely have broken hardware.

dylan, did you check your hardware with UBCD or something? what's the status?
-
Hi
No I did not test my hardware with UBCD, but it is something I was not aware of. ThanksI managed to get it stable by rebooting soon after I finish the install of a package. I now have 4 installed packages and more services running fine, but I have taken the precaution to reboot after package installs.
I will look into the suggestion to stress test the hardware if I have anymore problems

This really cannot be caused by Squid, Squid won't even run until it's configured and enabled via the GUI.
