Upgrade from 2.4 Snapshot to 2.4 Stable likely?

So I read this post
Upgrade path to 2.4 alpha from 2.3.2 release?
https://forum.pfsense.org/index.php?topic=118978.msg684604#msg684604and this comment from Jimp
Set it to upgrade to 2.3.3, then upgrade, then set it to upgrade to 2.4, then upgrade
That is clear and I understand the procedure.
Then I read this post which is more recent
Pfsense 2.4 ZFS File System
https://forum.pfsense.org/index.php?topic=120340.0and the quote from kpa says
@kpa:
when this is released will we be able to upgrade to ZFS from 2.3.x or will it require a reinstall?
I doubt that you'll be able to avoid a full reinstall, there just aren't any tools that would automate an UFS to ZFS conversion.
My question is when following jimp's instructions what is happening to the 2.3.3 UFS file system while upgrading to 2.4?
My assumption was in-line with kpa's comment that a clean install was necessary, particularly if ZFS will be used 2.4 forward.
And my second question. Is it likely that we can upgrade from the 2.4 snapshots to the future 2.4 "stable" or will a reinstall likely be necessary?
Thanks for any help.

Upgrading is possible if you want to keep using UFS. But if you want to change to ZFS, your only option will be to start from scratch. Pretty sure I have that right.

Thanks virgiliomi!

Yes, you'll be able to update from 2.4 snapshots to 2.4-RELEASE when the time comes. You will have to change your update settings when it reaches that point to stop tracking snapshots.
If you have 2.3.x or before with UFS and upgrade to 2.4, it will still be UFS. As virgiliomi said, to get ZFS you have to wipe and reload.

Excellent answers. Thank you.

What's the advantage of zfs? I have an apu4. Do I care?

That's a question for a new thread. There are several topics on that already.
(tl;dr: more reliable, more features, but higher RAM usage) -

Not really. :)
Do you use a ram drive?
