      Hello,

this might be a possible bug. I have a Debian OpenVPN server in TAP mode. I also have a pfSense box connected to it.

If I want to set a static IP on the ovpnc1 interface, the route for the IP does not get created.

However, it works fine if I create a VIP with the same IP or if I create a fake bridge with ovpnc1 being the only bridged interface and set the IP on the bridge itself.

      Why am I doing this?

Well, I got a VPS from OVH with a bunch of failover IPs. I bridged the OVPN server with the eth0 interface. This allows me to set public OVH IPs on my home pfSense and do 1:1 NAT to my DMZ hosts.

This way I always have the same static IP (from OVH) at home. I need this since my usual ISP provided IP changes every 24 hours and DynDNS just isn't good enough.
