Hi all! I was able to get a Sierra MC7700 working with pfSense by setting the card to DirectIP mode. I got a data sim for it from Google Project Fi and am targeting LTE band 4 on it (t-mobile network).

It can connect, and I can even ping IPs when I route traffic through it, but it is abysmally slow. I'd assume only a few kbps. It's not fast enough to actually do a speed test from a site.

I've found that modems are pretty tricky and I don't know how to troubleshoot the speed of it. I know the following two AT commands contain important info:

      AT+CSQ=?
      +CSQ: (0-31,99),(0-7,99)

      OK
      AT+CSQ
      +CSQ: 25,99

      OK
      AT!GSTATUS?
      !GSTATUS:
      Current Time:  505325          Temperature: 54
      Bootup Time:  503988          Mode:        ONLINE
System mode:  LTE              PS state:    Attached
LTE band:      B4              LTE bw:      20 MHz
LTE Rx chan:  2300            LTE Tx chan: 20300
      EMM state:    Registered      Normal Service
      EMM connection:RRC Connected

RSSI (dBm):    -66              Tx Power:    0
      RSRP (dBm):    -96              TAC:        5600 (22016)
      RSRQ (dB):    -11              Cell ID:    00A3BE02 (10731010)
      SINR (dB):      5.8

      OK

25 from CSQ is supposed to be pretty good signal strength, so I'm not sure what's going on. Hoping someone with experience in WWAN modems can point me in the right direction :)
