Setup two WIFI Access points on same network.
-
Can anyone point me in the direction of setting up two access points with the same network?
I want to place one upstairs and one downstairs but just 2 AP's on one network.Another questions, if i happened to want to setup a guest network should i use the routers guest network option or set it up in PFsense?

I am no expert, just learning this myself but questions that might help clarify are:
Are your apps vlan capable?
Do you have another interface on your firewall box? -
I want to place one upstairs and one downstairs
And where exactly is your problem doing so?
setup a guest network should i use the routers guest network option or set it up in PFsense?
Huh? Usually pfSense is your router.
Do you have a managed switch that is capable of VLANs (as Velcro already asked)?

Create 3 vlans on pfSense, one for LAN management, one for normal LAN and one for GUEST.
-
Create the firewall rules for the above 3 VLANS, and block GUEST -> LAN & GUEST - LAN management.
-
Connect a managed switch ( one that supports POE would be good ) to your pfSense LAN interface that carries the 3 VLANS
-
Connect the upstairs AP and Downstairs AP to the managed switch that carries the 3 VLANS
-
Configure the AP management IP addresses in the LAN management.
-
Configure LAN & GUEST SSIDs and associate them with the correct VLANS.
Most people seem to go for the Ubiquity Unfi access-points.
My GUEST firewall rules look like this, I know derelict isn't too keen on the not firewall rule :)
I don't need all the blocks at the bottom as this is the default but I wanted to see the hits I was getting.
