Dpinger and expressvpn problems

I have expressvpn and originally setup 3 failovers with dpinger.
The problem i had was the vpns kept switching because dpinger was reporting high traffic loss +50%

when i disable gateway monitoring i have no problem with a single vpn connection
if i enable monitoring on a single vpn for testing it still shows high loss and is always offline on the status screen, even though everything seems to be working fine.

i use opendns or google for the monitoring addresses.
ping from the console has no problems with 13ms to google.

i have been struggling for months with no luck but would really like to have the fall back working
