SNMPTT (SNMP Trap Translator) is an SNMP trap handler written in Perl
      for use with the Net-SNMP.

      http://www.snmptt.org/

After NET-SNMP was packaged to pfSense 2.4, it became possible to receive snmp traps and send them to a monitoring tool, like Zabbix.

      You need these pfSense packages:

      • zabbix-proxy 0.9.0 or later

      • snmptt 1.0.0 or later

      • net-snmp 0.1.2_5 or later

      Basically, it works this way:

[snmp traps] –> [pfSense box: net-snmptrapd] –> [pfSense box: snmptt]
[pfSense box: zabbix_proxy] reads the log file with traps and send them to a [zabbix_server]

      Configuration example:

      SNMPTT

Use standalone mode, unless you have a high load of snmp traps on your network.

      This is custom.

      NET-SNMP

If you won't use net-snmpd, remember to set net-snmptrapd to not become a subagent.

Define your community is a important step.

The program used here depends on how you configured your snmptt, normally you will use this way.

      ZABBIX PROXY

Set the same log used in the snmptt config.

Point out your devices to send traps to the pfSense box.

This is a initial release, feedbacks are welcome and please, report any problem/bug here.

      Regards.
