Clam antivirus

I used the antivirus included in the squid proxy that uses clam antivirus.  And I heard that clamav is not reliable and its more efficientto use stand alone antivirus in the pc itself.

My question is, if clamav is not reliable, why include it in the squid package if it is not useful.

I find it useful, I get blocks every so often especially from the game sites my son browses to. It may not be the BEST a/v solution, but it is useful…
