ZFS install
-
Sure this is me being an idiot…
I recently upgraded via the GUI to 2.4 RC, however I wanted to take advantage of the new ZFS install, I understood this meant a fresh install, so I back up the config and downloaded the latest memstick image. Wrote it to a USB, plugged it in, booted up, and selected the ZFS option - now comes my issues - it sees my SSD as an availble option to use, but I seem to have no ability to actually select it, whenever I press proceed with installation it complains about not having enough disks selected (0 instead of 1 minimum). No matter what I do I can't seem to get around this - I am sure I am missing some thing simple.
I tried re downloading the ADI memstick image but couldn't get that to boot at all.
Any pointers?
Cheers

If the disk is not available for ZFS it's likely already locked by another driver, most probably GMIRROR or GRAID because the disk has some leftover metadata from an earlier use where such RAID was used.
Drop to a shell after booting from the working install media and type the following:
gmirror status graid status

Are you pressing the space bar to select the disk?

Are you pressing the space bar to select the disk?
This. It isn't immediately evident, but you actually need to select the disk to tell the installer to use it. This confused me for a bit when I first reloaded my system to use ZFS also.

Thought it would be me missing something trivial…
It wasn't obvious (well to me at least) however once I'd pressed space, reloaded my config file - I am happy to say 2.4 is working flawlessly for me. Complete with snort, nut, freeradius 3 all no issues so far!

you aren't alone, I too ran into the space bar problem for a few minutes ;).
glad to hear you got it up and running!
