      Hi!

I'm new to pfsense and wanted to know if i should setup VPN, with OpenVPN or L2TP over IPSec?

I also have a ZyXel USG40w, any suggestions for setting up an IPSec tunnel?

      Thx :)

It would help if you would describe the purpose. What will be VPN be used for?

Also, what will be on the other side of it? What sort of clients? Which operating systems? Another firewall/router?

What kind of traffic will it be carrying?

          Sure :)

When i got the contract at the customer's, pfsense was running as a modem and router connected via nic to bell fibe internet service.. on the other side i was thinking of using a windows 10 vpn client and a ZyXel USG40w set as an endpoint via IPSEC which is already connected to other ZyXel routers via VPN at other sites unrelated.

Sounds like site-to-site VPNs then. I'd probably go with ipsec in that case. I use OpenVPN for client devices when I want to traverse things like hotel wifi routers, because I was sick of ipsec being blocked.
