Now that 2.4.0 will be delayed a bit (and based on FreeBSD 11.1 like 2.4.1 was) if we were tracking the 2.4.1 devel snapshots should we stay on that track or switch back to 2.4.0?  What I am basically asking is, will the 2.4.1 branch continue to receive updates over the next week or so or not?

Which one are you going to use? If 2.4.0 then stay on the stable branch assuming you have a 2.4.0 snapshot installed at the moment, if 2.4.1 use the experimental branch setting in the updater.

Probably going to run 2.4.0 when it gets released but I am now on 2.4.1 because I was testing something.  Just wanted to know if 2.4.1 was still going to receive updates is all.

If you are on 2.4.1 you should reinstall to get to 2.4.0.

Granted the two are fairly identical at the moment so you could, with some pkg repo config editing and liberal application of "pkg upgrade -f", switch back to 2.4.0, but it's cleaner to reinstall.

The rescue config.xml option in 2.4.0 works wonderfully, you can pick that from the first screen, select your drive, and then go through the install and it will come out with your current config. Back up and running with minimal fuss.

                  Thanks Jim, sounds great.
I'm planning to switch to ZFS too, would I still be able to rescue the config.xml if doing that? Or would I need to restore it manually after?

Rescue works perfectly for that. When testing I'll switch back and forth between ZFS and UFS for various reasons and rescue works every time. I still keep other backups, but I haven't needed them.

Yeah, it works just fine. And it'd be even better if someone fixed the PXE boot… Since upstream doesn't give a damn, perhaps someone might have a look at this? Been broken in FreeBSD since 9.1.

Just did so here and worked fine as well.
