In the OpenVPN Advanced Config Send/Receive Buffer options already exist. The Max value is 2.00 MiB.

If a higher or lower sndbuf/recbuf is put into custom options does it override the built-in option? I notice it even has a default option so I'm wondering if the default overrides any value put into custom options?

      Thank you for any answers.

Trying to interpret Jimp's choice of words here in the second paragraph.  Did he mean the Custom Options override the checkboxes, and thats why it was safe to upgrade?

I read that too and it doesn't really clarify. Hopefully Jimp can answer this. In some cases it may be useful to have a higher buffer than the dropdown allows, or perhaps maybe add a 'custom' field to the dropdown.

Default is Off, which means let the OS do it`s standard thing.
Use the Advanced Config Send/Receive Buffer OR the Custom options to set a different value.

I gloomily came to the ironic conclusion that if you take a highly intelligent person and give them the best possible, elite education, then you will most likely wind up with an academic who is completely impervious to reality.

Some people had those directives specified in custom options. If you enable the GUI options plus have them in the custom options box, openvpn may fail to start. I was saying it does the safe thing and defaults to off for the GUI controls so people who had them active before wouldn't upgrade and find they had a broken setup.

So you can use the GUI controls or custom options, but do not try to use both.
