Noob looking for filtering help.

Hi all,
I posted this over in the DNS section (here: https://forum.pfsense.org/index.php?topic=142541.0 ), and it was suggested I might have better luck here.
Basically what I'm looking to do is filter my kids devices. My research has come up with a few options, and I'm just looking for input as to what the "best practice" method is? In the other thread the squid, squidguard, Blacklist, and ACL's was suggested. I've tried to get squid setup, but I haven't had much luck… Maybe if someone has a proper tutorial they could link me, that would help?
My research has also led me to look more into OpenDNS. Maybe this is the better way to go? I know that I don't want to have to set DNS servers on devices I want blocked. I'd like to figure out how to configure pfsense, and let it handle everything.
Any input would be great!

In the next version full integration with pfsense UI is planned so installation might be much easier. -
This looks like a good guide that will possibly help me find what's causing my current setup not to work properly. I skimmed over this real quick, I will be able to apply the filtering to specific devices correct?
The integration in the next build will be handy I think!

Isn't Diladele some paid application?? You don't need them to do URL filtering.

Correct, you can also do the SquidGuard + Squid + C-ICAP. Our solution is just a bit more polished and uses ICAP to look into the contents of the stream. In 6.1 we are adding Google Safe Browsing so that all HTTP(S) requests (not only those originated from FF and Chrome) are scanned for potential malware URLs.

Thanks for pointing that out. I'm at work and gave the guide he posted a quick look, and the first page had what appeared to be clear instructions. I didn't realize he was promoting a company… Was definitely misled.
