Please merge patch for kernel regression in FreeBSD re: AMD Family 15h CPUs

  • There is a kernel regression that has been identified and patched in FreeBSD that was causing the FreeBSD and PFSense kernel to not boot under KVM/QEMU in Linux on AMD Family 15h processors (Opteron G4 & G5).

Would it be possible to incorporate this patch into 2.4.3, or is it too late?

Here is the bug thread, with links to the patch and commit.

  • Netgate

Fixed, please test the next snapshot.

  • Thank you!

I have upgraded to 2.4.3.a.20180314.0851, and the fix does not seem to be present yet.  I will keep an eye out for the next build, and update this thread accordingly once I can confirm it works.

  • Thank you once again!

I can now confirm that this fix works.  I am running in a KVM/QEMU VM on AMD A8 based host under CentOS7, and using Opteron_G5 as the CPU type for the guest OS.
