Squid or SquidGuard?
-
Hey, everybody, I need a hint to get me on my way to a solution.
I've been using pfSense for a while, I'm currently using version 2.4.2, but I'm just starting to see Squid and SquidGuard.
I need to make my LAN users able to browse as long as they are members of a certain group on my LDAP (AD DS).
What I'm not sure about is whether to do it with Squid (so far I haven't been able to) or if I should do it with SquidGuard.
Would someone tell me which one of us to use to accomplish this? Or should I use both?
I'll make it clear that I don't need Squid's caching features.
Maybe only with SquidGuard can I do it?
Thank you very much for any help!
GreetingsGabriel

Squid is a caching proxy. Squidguard is an URL filter. Squidguard requires squid. Squid uses authentication to allow/deny access while squidguard uses it for grouping purposes.
