Virtual guests on pfSense as host,

i can see there is a lot of talk around pfsense and virtulalization.
my question now is, why can't i install pfsense on the host hardware, then setup xen so i can virtualize any guest os i like and have pfsense provide firewalling along side ?
stupid question ?

Because virtualisation provides no security, and indeed weakens security (as it can only introduce vulnerabilities).
Also, Xen doesn't yet support FreeBSD as a dom0, making the point rather moot ;)
